Harley Alexander
Harley writes online tutorials and tips for WordPress and has recently completed co-writing the book How to Be a Rockstar WordPress Designer.
He will be releasing the book at WordCamp Australia as well as presenting some ideas about making your blog rock as well using custom theme elements and plugins.
Alister Cameron
Alister can do anything with blogs; write them, design them, market them and just about anything else you can think of.
He recently launched Australis Media, a new company aimed at providing new media services and training, including their just launched Internet Marketing Masterminds group.
Dan Milward
Dan Milward is a New Zealand based developer and entrepreneur working with Instinct, makers of (amongst other things) the WordPress e-Commerce plugin.
He’s one of a small but clearly committed group winging their way over to Sydney from New Zealand for WordCamp.
Matt Mullenweg
Matt is the lead architect of WordPress and founder of Automattic, the company behind the WordPress.com blog host, the Akismet anti-spam service and many more projects.
Matt was instrumental in the creation of WordPress over five years ago and has stewarded the project to the present day where it powers over 8 million blogs. He is also a keen musician, photographer and WiiTennis champ.
Alex Shiels
Alex has been working as a developer on WordPress and WordPress.com since mid-2007. His speciality is fighting against the tide of splog sign-ups there and more recently he has become involved in development of the Akismet anti-spam service.
Alex will be speaking at and photographing WordCamp Australia 2008.
Sarah Stokely
Sarah has worked as a tech journalist and editor in Australia and the UK since 2000 and her commitment to reporting was rewarded in 2004 at the IT Journalism Awards.
As the inaugural editor of Lifehacker Australia, she built the blog and its community into a Top 20 Australian blog in it’s first 6 months.
In January 2008 she launched The Open Source Report, a news and blog site reporting on Open Source technology and the Open Source community both in Australia and around the world.
Jeff Waugh
Jeff Waugh is a long standing member of the Australian free software community and a regular speaker at open source conferences. He has even won an award for his work promoting the Ubuntu Linux distribution.
He will be talking about his recent work in creating the new blogging home for the popular political news website Crikey – using (of course) WordPress.
Jane Wells
Jane was heavily involved in the design and testing of the experimental “Crazyhorse” branch of WordPress. The project has led to her joining Automattic full time to weave her UI magic over the administration interface for WordPress 2.7, helping shape it into a modern web application.
She’ll share the insights gained from the usability testing that has been conducted on WordPress and where some of those findings have been applied in the new versions of WordPress, and perhaps even where those ideas may take it in the future.
David Wolf
David Wolf is a web developer and digital media artist. Since 2005 he has specialised in creating highly customised sites which use WordPress as a CMS for video and other rich media.
Recent projects include a showreel site for The Guild of Commercial Filmmakers, and Videodefunct a research project which allows you to view and browse multiple related videos simultaneously.
David will be speaking on how to take advantage of WordPress’ powerful built in features such as custom fields, multiple loops and custom queries to add some interesting non-traditional features to your site.
